Aspire to Excellence

The Beckman Center for Mental Health Services adopts as its Leadership philosophy the ASPIRE to Excellence approach. ASPIRE to Excellence recognizes the importance of a tiered Strategic Planning style which embraces environmental variables along with stakeholder input to positively effect leadership, planning and management of the organization. Under this organizational climate, agency leadership strives toward a future of service and business excellence.

Assess the Environment

We must first “Assess” to develop the foundation for organizational strategy. We must assess within the sphere of our influence, purpose and location. We must assess as relates to the vision and Mission of our organization. Finally we must assess as Beckman Center fits into the social, economic, legal, regulatory, and political environments in which we operate.

Set Strategy

Once we understand our environment and our organizational competencies, we can go about identifying opportunities, threats and resources that make up strategic planning. Such planning establishes direction which allows us to achieve, sustain, and advance our organizational Mission.

Persons Served and Other Stakeholders – Obtain Input

Since we function in a service environment, our success can not be sustained without success for our clients and other stakeholders. Actively engaging them as part of our planning and service delivery, both through direct feedback and person-centered planning, is the best way to attain positive outcomes.

Implement the Plan

All of the greatest planning is lost if we do not or can not implement the plan. Implementation is the enactment of steps designed to achieve goals. We must enact ways to maximize resources and minimize risks in order to achieve desired outcomes.

Review Results

To stay on tract we must set goals or performance indicators against which to measure success. We must tract performance in order to measure levels of achievement both individually and organizationally.

Effect Change

Why do all of this? To achieve a dynamic (rather than static) and proactive (rather than reactive) organization equipped to align purpose, practices, and resources.
